What is chin and cheek augmentation?
Chin and cheek surgery are two innovative procedures that can highlight and strengthen the facial features of our patients.
A chin lacking projection can create facial disharmony, often leading to a double chin and neck sagging.
Chin augmentation can be achieved using implants, which leave no visible scars.
It can also be performed through lipoinjection, where fat extracted from your own body through liposuction is processed to isolate adipocytes and then injected.
For the cheeks, enhancing their projection can instantly provide a fresher and more youthful appearance.
This can be done using the same methods as for the chin, with an implant that reshapes the area to achieve the desired projection and form.
In general, we recommend fat grafting for both cheek and chin enhancement, as it offers more natural results without the need for foreign materials.
What does the procedure involve?
Chin
For this procedure, we use local or general anaesthesia depending on the case. Through an incision beneath the chin or inside the mouth, a pocket is created under the skin or the platysma muscle.
Once the pocket is prepared, we insert the implant, which can be made of silicone, calcium hydroxyapatite, or Gore-Tex. The incision is closed with absorbable sutures.
Cheeks
Similar to the chin procedure, local or general anaesthesia can be used for the cheeks.
The incision is made either in the lower eyelid or inside the mouth to create a pocket beneath the skin or the zygomatic muscle.
Once the pocket is prepared, the implant is inserted, which may be made of silicone, calcium hydroxyapatite, or autologous fat. The incision is closed with absorbable sutures.
