What is mastopexy?
Mastopexy, also known as a breast lift, is a surgical and aesthetic procedure aimed at lifting and rejuvenating the breasts by correcting breast ptosis (breast sagging).
During the procedure, excess skin can be removed, and breast firmness restored without creating an artificial appearance, resulting in a much more natural look and helping you regain your confidence.
What does the procedure involve?
An incision is made around the nipple and areola, forming an "inverted T" shape that extends down to the lower fold of the breast. This allows for the separation of the skin from the mammary gland, removal of excess skin and glandular tissue, and the lifting of the breast.
At this stage, the mammary gland is elevated and repositioned to a higher, firmer position. In some cases, it may be necessary to reposition the areola and/or nipple for better symmetry and to enhance the shape of the breasts, ensuring a more effective outcome.

Frequently asked questions
The best way to determine this is by consulting with the specialists in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at the Instituto Dra Ana Torres. It is important to note that to be an ideal candidate, you should be in good overall health and have no medical contraindications such as pregnancy or chronic illnesses.
Although the risks at the Instituto Dra Ana Torres are minimal, there may be possibilities of bleeding, infection, bruising, visible scars, breast asymmetry, loss of nipple sensitivity, difficulties with breastfeeding, and unsatisfactory results. It is crucial to discuss these risks with the doctor and understand how we work to prevent them at the institute.
The ability to breastfeed after a mastopexy depends on the technique used and the amount of breast tissue removed. It is important to discuss this with the surgeon before the procedure to understand the potential outcomes and how they might impact breastfeeding.
The periareolar, vertical, and inframammary fold scars may be visible for a few months, but generally, they become imperceptible over time.
