During the Lipedema Open Day, a multidisciplinary team of lipedema specialists will share key insights on how to approach this condition from a medical, nutritional, and lifestyle perspective. The event is designed both for healthcare professionals who may be involved in the management of this disease, as well as for diagnosed patients and/or women who suspect they may have lipedema and wish to resolve their doubts.

What is lipedema and why does it require specialized care?

Lipedema is a chronic disease that affects women. It is characterized by an abnormal and painful accumulation of fat in the legs and arms, accompanied by inflammation, a sensation of heaviness, and easy bruising. Despite being a common condition, lipedema continues to be underdiagnosed and is often confused with obesity or lymphedema.

Having the support of professionals specialized in lipedema is essential to achieve an accurate diagnosis and establish a treatment plan tailored to each case. The approach must be personalized and multidisciplinary, combining medical care, lifestyle changes, and, in indicated cases, surgical intervention.

Expert professionals participating in the Lipedema Open Day

During the Lipedema Open Day, we will have the presence of leading experts in the treatment of lipedema:

  • Dr. Ana Torres: Plastic surgeon specialized in the treatment of lipedema using WAL (Water-Assisted Liposuction), founder of the Institute that bears her name, and internationally recognized for her innovative and rigorous approach.
  • Dr. Cristina Puigdellívol: Physician specialized in phlebology and lymphology, with extensive experience in circulatory and lymphatic disorders.
  • Beatriz Sala-Bellsolell: Pharmacist and dietitian specialized in diet therapy and nutritional counseling for patients with lipedema.
  • Representatives of the Board of Directors of LIMFACALL, an organization that promotes awareness and proper management of lipedema.

Lipedema treatment: personalized and effective options

At the Instituto Dra. Ana Torres, we work with a specialized protocol for the comprehensive treatment of lipedema. Our approach combines:

  • Specialized clinical diagnosis
  • Personalized nutritional counseling
  • Personalized exercise and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD).
  • Surgical treatment using WAL technology, considered the most effective and safest technique for patients with lipedema.

Additionally, in selected cases, we complement surgery with advanced skin-tightening systems such as BodyTite and Morpheus8, which significantly improve both aesthetic and functional results.

The key role of postoperative care

Treatment does not end with surgery. The postoperative period is a critical phase to ensure the success of the procedure. That is why we offer:

  • Lymphatic drainage starting the day after the procedure.
  • Complementary therapies such as Indiba to accelerate recovery.
  • Personalized support throughout the entire process.

Why go to a center with lipedema specialists?

Lipedema treatment requires specific knowledge, experience, and sensitivity to the emotional experience of patients. Not all professionals are trained to address this condition with the rigor it requires. That is why, at the Instituto Dra. Ana Torres, we work with a highly qualified team and protocols developed based on scientific evidence and established clinical practice.

A network of professionals at the service of patients

At the Instituto Dra. Ana Torres, we promote a collaborative network of physicians, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and other lipedema specialists to improve the management of this condition from a comprehensive perspective.
